February 12–13, 2010
The end of summer is coming but we need to make sure to celebrate the end with so much fun!
Mark your calendars. You wont want to miss this. More details coming soon!
Children’s Ministry
The children’s ministry of Legacy Christian Church exists to teach children and their families to love God, his son Jesus Christ, the Bible, one another, and him/herself by providing a safe and loving learning environment.
What to Expect on Sundays
Nursery
Our nursery provides your newborns through two-year-olds a safe place to play and rest. Upon checking in, you will be given a pager. If your child has a need, a nursery worker will beep your pager. When dropping your child off in the nursery please bring a labeled diaper bag and labeled cups/bottles/pacifiers. Children are provided a snack of Cheerios, animal crackers, or goldfish.
Preschool Age (3 & 4 years old)
At Legacy Christian Church, we use the First Look curriculum for preschoolers. First Look is designed for 3s, 4s, and 5s. First Look and LCC believe that there are three key truths that every preschooler needs to know.
Three Key Truths taught in First Look:
- God loves me.
- God made me.
- Jesus wants to be my forever friend.
Each month children will study one of these key truths. Each week the key truth is presented using a different Bible story and creative activities that engage the five senses.
9:30–10:30 a.m. = Preschool Worship
Children worship God in their classroom with Miss Katie. These fun, energetic age appropriate worship songs emphasize the key truths
11:00–noon = Preschool Class
Centers, games, creative Bible stories, crafts, and activities help preschoolers to internalize the key truths and Bible lessons while helping them learn and grow.
Elementary Age
The 252 Basics curriculum is a unique approach for elementary school age children in churches. It is built around three Basic Truths every child should embrace according to what Jesus modeled in Luke 2:52.
- I need to make the wise choice.
- I can trust God no matter what.
- I should treat others the way I want to be treated.
Each Basic Truth is amplified by a weekly key concept and systematically taught over a three-year track. The curriculum includes Bible stories and is based on a Core Virtue and Memory Verse as the framework for each month.

9:30–10:30 a.m. = Kids Life Classes
Kids Life Classes are offered during the 9:30 a.m. service. Activities, games, and discussions help kids apply the month’s virtue in their everyday lives. K–third graders meet in room two while fourth & fifth graders meet in room one. Children should be dropped off at their classroom by a parent and picked up in the Kids Life side of the fellowship hall at 10:30 a.m. or after the 11:00 a.m. service.
11:00–noon = Kids Life Worship
Contemporary songs from Hillsong Kids and Upstreet Kids teach kids how to worship God—with energy and authenticity. Our older elementary school kids are invited to participate on the Kids Life Worship Team. Wacky games, funny videos, interesting lessons, and communion make children’s worship the best hour of your kid’s week. Virtues are taught using small and large group lessons and activities.
Each week your child receives two papers to take home. God Time cards give kids four simple devotions that they can use throughout the week to build a deeper relationship with Christ. Fridge Door Cards are for parents to understand what their child is learning on Sundays and give ideas for how to incorporate the lesson at home.
What To Expect on Wednesdays
Nursery
Wednesday night nursery program is designed to give parents a safe place to leave their children while they attend our Wednesday night classes. The nursery is for children under three years of age. The nursery opens ten minutes before the men’s and women’s classes begin and end.
Preschool Age through First Grade
Lessons similar to the older elementary school kids are adapted to be more appropriate for this age. Each month a new Big Question leads our study of the Bible. Exciting hands-on activities and games enforce the bible story for each week. Kids learn a new memory verse related to the Big Question for the month. Class is open ten minutes before the men’s and women’s classes begin.
Second Grade through Fifth Grade
During this time kids experience a small group style Bible study. Fun games and a short lesson as a large group is followed by discussion that helps kids to grow deeper into God’s Word and learn to live what they are studying while building lasting relationships with their peers. We explore one big question, dig into scripture to find the answers, and learn one Scripture memory passage each month. Hang Out time begins at 6:30 p.m. and class starts at 7:00 p.m. in the fellowship hall.
The SuperStart curriculum that we use teaches kids to internalize the truth of God’s Word and live their lives for Christ. SuperStartLive is a conference in Orlando each fall for fourth–sixth graders. Kids can experience live what we learn each week. Dates for the 2010 conference TBA summer 2010.
